Map Import

Uploading scans

For importing and editing your 3D-scans and locations go to maps. Here you have an overview of the maps you uploaded to your project. To import a new 3D map, just click on “Import new map”. Choose the type of map you want to import.

You can use scans that are created with the Matterport, NavVis or LiDAR scanner on your device. After choosing one option and filling in all required information, you need to select the default language of the map. No worries, you can change it anytime in map settings.

Matterport

To import your Matterport map you now have to log in to your Matterport account. Select the space you want to import and check if you have purchased the MatterPak for this particular scan. You will find this Matterport feature in the add-ons subsection. Purchase the MatterPak for your scan as it is needed for system to be able to access the scan data.

Once the MatterPak has been activated you can go back to the IndoAR admin interface and click on "New Map" or "Add Scan" and select the Matterport option. A new window will pop up asking you to sign into your Matterport account, use the account that has the scan. Afterwards you will be asked to authorize access, do so by clicking on authorize. Now you will be able to select a scan from your account to import onto the platform. Finally, give your map a name, select the default language and click on continue to finish the import process.

NavVis

Before NavVis scans can be imported they need to be prepared first. Copy the "Datasets_proc" folder from your camera. Download the NavVis to E57 converter from "Vuforia" and create an .E57 file. Click on "New Map" or "Add Scan" and select the NavVis Option. Give the Map a name and drag your .E57 files into the corresponding field.

If you have NavVis IVION 10 or higher you can paste the URL to help with the alignment of your scans. If not you have the option to use an alignment XML file instead, otherwise you will have to align the scans by hand using the Viewports "Move Scan" function.

ViewAR Scanner App

To import a scan from our LiDAR scanner app, simply click on "New Map" or "Add Scan", choose the ViewAR Scanner, give your map a name and select a scan from your library. For more information go to "ViewAR Scanner"

You have no scan?

If you do not have a scan available yet, there are three options to choose from:

  • You can test our IndoAR admin interface with a demo scan. Keep in mind that you cannot test it on your phone, since you have to be on actual location with your device.
  • You can request a scan service. We will contact one of our partners and arrange a scan appointment,
  • You can buy or rent a scan device and scan your desired location by yourself. You can scan your location by using for example a Matterport, NavVis, Leica 3D camera or Apple LiDAR Scanner, which is available on Apple devices since 2020. The 3D-Scan is used to create a digital twin of your location.
