ViewAR Scanner

Introduction

With the ViewAR Scanner App you are able to easily create small scale scans yourself quickly. The scanner supports LiDAR capable iOS devices like the iPhone 12 Pro Max or the iPad Pro.

We recommend to keep scans below 50 - 100m2 depending on the texture settings.

You can find it available for download in the Appstore

How to scan

First login with the same account you used to register on the platform. You will be greeted with the scan selection screen where you can look at your existing scans or create new ones. bottom of the screen.

To get started click on the blue "+" on the bottom of the screen. Which will take you to the "Create New Scan" screen.

Besides naming your scan, you select wether or not to apply full color texturing and link it to an existing App. Simply turn on the "Navigation Map" slider and select the AppID you want to upload your scan to. Otherwise leave it as it is and click on the "Create Scan" button.

Click on the red button to start scanning. The app will then start to map the area and create an overlay to show you what parts are already scanned. To stop simply press the button again. The scan will then be saved.

It is advised to only scan in one direction to avoid rescanning an area.

Snapshots

Press the camera icon to create Snapshots that also contain depth information to help you with the placement of POIs.

You can select them in the viewport menu inside IndoAR to use them for more precise placements

Upload your scans

There are two ways to upload your scans. The first is to link the scan to a pre-existing AppID on the "Create New Scan" screen as shown above. Once you are done scanning the scan will be imported into the project and you will find a new map waiting for you on the portal.

If you did not link it to an existing AppID you can import it on the portal like you would with any other scan. Create a new Map and select the ViewAR Scanner as your source.

Give your new map a name and select the desired scan from the dropdown menu under Scans.
